The Blue Iguana (Cyclura lewisi), also known as the Grand Cayman Blue Iguana, is a critically endangered species native to the island of Grand Cayman in the Caribbean. Known for its striking blue-gray to vibrant blue coloration, which is more pronounced in males, this iguana can grow up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) in length and live for several decades. Blue iguanas are primarily herbivores, feeding on leaves, flowers, and fruits, and they inhabit dry forests and shrublands. Unlike its arboreal relatives, the blue iguana is largely terrestrial, preferring rocky, sunlit areas. Conservation efforts have helped to bring this species back from the brink of extinction.
